How/Where: https://www.fifa.com/tournaments/mens/worldcup/qatar2022/tickets
Phase: Tournament is over (felicidades, Argentina!)
Version: First Come First Serve
Starts: 27 September 2022 at 11:00 CET / 12:00 (midday) Doha time
Ends: End of World Cup
Read below for the summary of information on ticket phases…
How to Apply
https://www.fifa.com/tournaments/mens/worldcup/qatar2022/tickets
How Much Do Qatar 2022 Tickets Cost?
All prices shown below are in QAR (Qatari Rial).
A quick site for conversion to your local currency is https://www.oanda.com/currency-converter.
For comparison to USD, every 100 QAR is approximately $27 USD (per January 19th). Use the link or your own source as currencies are a fluid value.
Tell Me More About Payment
You need to pay via a Visa card (official sponsor).
Also, your tickets are NOT official until payment is confirmed and you must confirm payment before each Phase ends.
For “first come, first serve” phases, your payment is at the time of confirming your ticket request.
What Type of Tickets Can You Apply For?
The image below summarizes the various ticket types.
It is important to note there are 3 different Team Specific Tickets:
- TST3 = Group Games only
- TST4 = Group Games + Round of 16
- TST7 = Every game
Within each type (Individual, TST, Stadium, etc) is 3 Categories where:
- Category 1 = Center of field (think 18 to 18)
- Category 2 = Corners
- Category 3 = Behind the goal
Note: The category does not determine how close you get to the field – only where in the stadium you sit. So you could gate Category 1 and be the last row in the highest section but at midfield and Category 3 where you are front row but directly behind the goalie.
Phase 1
Method
Random lottery. What does this mean? During this entire phase, the order in which you submit your ticket requests does not matter. Whether you are the first person to apply or the last person to apply, you have equal chances for receiving tickets.
When
January 19th through February 8th.
Phase 2
Starts after the actual “Final Group Draw” which is when we find out who plays who, at what stadium and when.
Has 2 sub phases:
- First Come First Served (Mar 23, 2022 to Mar 29, 2022)
- Random Lottery (April 5, 2022 to Apr 28, 2022)
- Payment Starts May 31 and ends Jun 15
Can you explain Random Lottery Again?
You do NOT need to be the first in line to request tickets. It is similar to the first phase of ticket sales where you have an equal chance (in theory) of receiving tickets whether you are the first person to do so on April 5th or last person to do so on April 28th!
Don’t forget to apply for your Hayya Card (Fan ID!)!
When do we find out about tickets and make payment for Phase 2.b?
Answer: May 31 was a happy day!
On May 31, you can check your ticket application to see your status. This also means that the payment period will not start earlier than May 31.
Everyone “will receive an email communication from the FIFA Ticketing Centre with further information about payment, including the steps to follow and the deadline to pay for your tickets.”
UPDATE: Sales Phase and Payment Over
Phase 3 – Last Minute Tickets
When Does This Start
CONFIRMED it is – July 5th, 2022 at 11:00 CET / 12:00 (midday) Doha time
A previous RUMOR was June 28th, and now FIFA has updated their site with the info.
There’s no word yet on the resale portal.
Type of Phase
First Come, First Serve, On-demand tickets.
So this will be the toughest period to obtain a ticket as it is a first come, first serve basis.
Check the site often as our Tweet Suggests:
Phase 4 – Last Minute Tickets
When Does This Start
27 Of September
We also know this will last through the end of the tournament.
What Type of Sales Is This Phase
You see a ticket you like, you will need to submit your credit card.
Over the Counter Purchases
Per FIFA:
Over-the-counter sales will also start in Doha following the launch of the last-minute sales phase.
Is There Another Way To Buy Tickets Officially?
Actually…yes:
Can You Resell Tickets?
YES…however, it is best to do this through the official, FIFA Ticket Resell portal.
Where’s the Ticket Resell Portal?
You received tickets for a team you don’t want to see? You can no longer attend the dates you selected earlier?
No worries – that’s why there’s a portal.
Read more about the Official Resale Portal.
Is There a Fee?
Yes…of course. FIFA will take a small % (and ONLY if your ticket is actually purchased!) so that means you get most of your money back.
Here’s an image from the platform.
Wait – if tickets can be resold does that mean I still have a chance for tickets?
Exactly…there are times when a previous “sold out” game all of a sudden has tickets to purchase due to fans reselling. This doesn’t happen for every game and is clearly an act of fortuitous timing, but hey, it is possible!
Are World Cup Tickets Mobile or Paper?
We saw this recent update in FIFA’s communication and copying and pasting below:
“All successful ticket applicants who have purchased tickets online at FIFA.com/tickets during Sales Phase (1), Sales Phase (2) and Last Minutes Sales phases will have their tickets delivered as mobile tickets. Please note that if you are a holder of tickets for several matches at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, tickets may be delivered to you at different times.
Once the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ mobile ticket application is ready to be downloaded, we will give you all the details to learn your way through it, send tickets to your guests and access the stadium on a match day, among other functionalities. The mobile ticketing application is free to download.
FIFA Ticketing will announce when and how your tickets will be delivered in due course. This information will be communicated at FIFA.com/tickets.”
Mobile App Details
FIFA did release a youtube video on their ticketing mobile app for Qatar 2022.
How Can “Guests” Access Their Tickets
In the FIFA Mobile App, it appears there will be a way to “send ticket” to each guest via email.
You’ll need to ensure that your guest tickets are assigned, passport numbers and all.
Match Day Activation / Use for Entry
Check this image below on “activation” of tickets. It is an image from the email FIFA sends once your ticket is ready to appear in the app.
To summarize:
- Tickets will be “activated” at the stadium grounds on match day
- The activation is when a QR code will appear to be scanned.
- This is all done via bluetooth so make sure bluetooth is ON for your phone
Next Steps – Get a Fan ID (Hayya Card)
After applying, you’ll want to apply for your Fan ID (Hayya Card). and start thinking about what to pack.
Video – Qatar2022 How To Apply
Qatar2022 posted on their youtube page a 2 minute video on the ticket application process.

Last Minute isnt opening. When is going to?
Looks like that rumor may not be true – or – the information changed which is why it couldn’t be found anywhere else.
Frustrating.
updated to reflect newest rumor (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myaSqgJ7h44)
It is now confirmed July 5th and article is updated to reflect that.
Do you know when Phase 3 exactly starts?
Hi Sebastian! Nope…no dates have been announced for the Last Minute Tickets Sales Phase. Imagine the soonest would be June 15th, when payment is due for the most recent allocation. It doesn’t seem like FIFA will comment before then. We will certainly provide details once made public.
Thanks a lot. I believe many of us will just try to be online on the 15th at 12:00 noon time Qatar to find out whether we can purchase any remaining tickets. Thanks for getting back 🙂
Great info! Thank you! Nicely formatted too.
Thanks for the kind words, Jessica! We hope you are successful in your bid to acquire tickets and attend the tournament and cheer on your favorite team(s)!
